‘Modern Family’ the Wednesday standout for ABC

ABC’s Replay “Modern Family” is the No. 1 Scripted Show at 8pm In Adults 18-49, Finishing 13% Ahead of NBC’s Original “Mercy”.
Surging 66% in Adults 18-49 from its Lead-in Against Fox’s 2-Hour “Idol,” ABC’s “Modern Family” is the No. 1 Scripted Show in its Slot for its 4th Straight Original
“Modern Family – WED 8PM” (8:00-8:30 p.m.)
Opposite the opening half-hour of Fox’s 2-hour “American Idol” (Top 10 female performances), ABC’s rebroadcast airing of “Modern Family” finished as the No. 1 scripted show at 8:00 p.m. in Adults 18-49 (1.7/5), beating NBC’s original “Mercy” by 13% (1.5/4) and tying CBS’ original “Old Christine” (1.7/5).
“Modern Family” (9:00-9:30 p.m.)
On its first original airing in 3 weeks, ABC’s “Modern Family” surged from its lead-in by 67% in Adults 18-49 at 9:00 p.m. against the third half-hour of Fox’s 2-hour “Idol.” Beating out CBS’ “Criminal Minds” in Adults 18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 3.4/9), ABC’s “Modern Family” registered as the No. 1 scripted program in its time period for its 4th straight original telecast.
The ABC freshman comedy stood as Wednesday’s No. 1 scripted TV show in Adults 18-34 (3.1/9) for its 4th first-run telecast in a row.

Is Gabourey Sidibe coming to ‘Modern Family’?
If Jesse Tyler Ferguson has his way, Gabourey Sidibe will be headed to the Pritchett/Tucker household. In a new interview with NYPost.com‘s PopWrap, the “Modern Family” star reveals that he’s actively approached the Oscar nominee about playing Lily’s nanny in an upcoming episode!
“The one person I actually have gone after — because she’d be so brilliant — is Gabourey Sidibe. I think she would be fantastic as a nanny we hire. She’s just so bubbly and sweet and a fan of the show. I think this would be a seamless fit for her,” Jesse tells PopWrap.
And that’s not all Jesse spilled — from Fred Williard’s return to an upcoming bird attack plotline — spoilers were abundant!

Modern Family: Fear
Modern Family delivered another laugh filled episode with “Fear.”
For me the favorite part was with the Dunphy family. Phil and Luke went on a “treasure hunting” expedition under the house not knowing what they would get themselves into. In awesome Phil fashion he tries to play off being afraid of the dark and what might be under the house with jokes.
Luke: When you stuck your head in, you screamed a little.
Phil: I told you. That was the house settling.
Phil: We’re like Ponce de Leon and his son… little Ponce.
Luke: His name is Ponce? He’d get made fun of at my school. They’d probably call him “Pants.”
Also in the Dunphy family was Claire taking her daughter Haley to get her driving license after two previous tries. Some good laughs occurred when she was hoping that the teacher wouldn’t recognize her but he did and referred to her as “two strikes.” Then there was Alex who was afraid to go to the school dance because she thought that no one would ask her to dance.
With Cameron and Mitchell their fear ends up being that their daughter Lily said “mommy” as her first word. They invited their pediatrician over for brunch because they wanted to make sure she liked Lily. But Cameron was trying too hard and giving many compliments.
Mitchell to Cameron: “Take it down a notch, we’re trying to make a friend, not initiate a three-way.”
They thought maybe it was because she grew up with females and when she was being held by an Asian doctor it just came out but it was later discovered that Lily had been hearing a doll that was given to them by friends the said “mommy.”
Cameron: “We can’t ignore the giant panda in the room. ” after Lily calls her Asian pediatrician Mommy
Mitchell: “Her first word was every gay father’s worst nightmare.”
For the Delgado and Pritchett family (Jay, Gloria and Manny) it was all about the apparent fear of Manny and roller coasters. He didn’t want to go to party where there would be rides but his mother ended up tricking him into going fishing at a pier where there was also a coaster. She ended up saying you have to face your fears and go for it. Manny ended up the trick was on him but decided to ride anyway.
Manny: “Wake up old man, she’s trying to get me on the roller coaster. ” – to Jay, about Gloria’s plot to get him on the roller coaster.
Gloria: Manny, you were afraid to light the barbecue, but now your eyebrows have grown back and your salmon is legendary!
Jay: I could have guessed he’d have trouble with roller coasters. That kid gets woozy at barbershops when they spin his chair towards the mirror.
‘Modern Family’s’ Eric Stonestreet on Sofia Vergara: ‘That really tested my ability to play a gay man.’
In the clips below, Zap2it chat with TV’s favorite “Modern Family” couple — Eric Stonestreet (Cam) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell).
“I go on a date with Gloria because I said a faux pas at a dinner party and I felt really bad about it,” Stonestreet explains in the video. “So we go out for dinner, her and I together. That really tested my ability to play a gay man, spending a week with Sofia Vergara. I said if anybody sees any of my straightness … that’s gonna be the week to see it.”

Modern Family Vs. SNL – Go Vote

Modern Family Scoops
Some news about upcoming Modern Family episodes come to us from IGN:
Stonestreet noted that they were actually shooting the season finale already, out of order from the rest of the season, while among the episodes already shot, “There’s a story where I join Dylan’s rock band, because their drummer goes missing. I play the drums, so I sit in for a night.”
Sofia Vergara (“Gloria Delgado-Pritchett”) mentioned one storyline in which, “[Cameron] takes me out to dinner to make up for something that he says.” Stonestreet elaborated, “I try to make up to her something kind of offensive that I accidentally said in front of her, so I take her out for an evening on the town, which goes horribly, horribly wrong.”
Ferguson also revealed some more specifics on upcoming episodes. “I get stuck in the apartment with a stray pigeon that I’m terrified of,” said the actor, adding, “There’s that! Hilarity ensues with a broom. My dad teaches me karate and accidentally knocks me out. That’s pretty funny. The writers are amazing. I couldn’t even begin to name all the hilarious moments that you have yet to see.”

Eric Stonestreet, “Modern Family”, In “Bad Teacher”
Eric Stonestreet is going to be busy in his summer vacation from Modern Family. Eric along with Justin Timberlake and Molly Shannon have been added to the cast of Jake Kasdan’s “Bad Teacher,” Sony Pictures announced Tuesday.
The film stars Cameron Diaz as a foul-mouthed junior-high teacher trying to woo a colleague, played by Jason Segel.
The project, which will begin production later this month, is produced by Mosaic’s Jimmy Miller.
