Beating its Non-Sports Competition at 9pm, ABC’s Modern Family TV show is Wednesday’s No. 1 TV Series in Adults 18-49 for the 2nd Week in a Row.
“Modern Family” (9:00-9:30 p.m.)
Shooting up from its lead-in by 70% in Adults 18-49, ABC’s “Modern Family” beat out its non-sports competitors at 9:00 p.m. to qualify as the No. 1 TV series of the night for the 2nd straight week (3.4/9).
“Modern Family” is exhibiting big increases over its first-reported numbers through DVR playback, jumping by 1.2 million viewers and by an additional 6-tenths of an Adult 18-49 rating point from the initially reported Live + Same Day Numbers to the Live + 7 Day DVR finals.
Critics will always be critics
It seems that yesterday a few critics were on Twitter jawing about which they considered the best comedies on right now. Modern Family came up, and while there was general agreement that the show is hilarious and clever and warm, James Poniewozik added that he hoped that its warmth didn’t get expressed, in every episode, as “[Ed] “O’Neill says something gruffly sweet in last 30 secs.”
Here is what he says about the ending monologues:
I’d like to see the show change up from those here’s-what-we-all-learned homilies, for a couple reasons:
* First, and most obvious, a show is just better if I can’t predict its ending the afternoon before it airs.
* It undercuts the documentary format. There’s nothing inherently wrong with ending an episode with a longer speech from one of the characters’ “confessional” interviews in a mockumentary show. But the Jay we hear in a speech like last night’s isn’t entirely the Jay we see in action or hear interviewed on camera in the rest of the episode: he’s more reflective, self-aware and empathetic. Though the speeches end on a tension-breaking joke—like last night’s Guilt fades, but hardware lasts forever—it verges on breaking character.
* Finally, it’s just not always necessary. Modern Family has heart and sentiment to spare, and it doesn’t need to oversell it to get us to like it. If you took the monologue out, the montage it ran over would have been just as affecting, and actually maybe more.

The Crackle Endorses Manny from Modern Family
The Crackle just endorsed Manny as the official breakout TV character of the season, here are their reasoning:

He wears aftershave. He drinks coffee. He dons a poncho. He plays the pan flute. He does culturally sensitive dance numbers. He’s ten.
It’s all just Manny being Manny.
What do you think? Who is your TV character of the season?
Modern Family Episode 7 – “En Garde”
The whole family comes out to support Manny’s newfound interest – fencing. It turns out he’s quite masterful in this sport, but Jay’s prideful enthusiasm triggers an old childhood wound for Mitchell. Meanwhile Phil is determined to find where Luke’s hidden talents lie, on “Modern Family,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 (9:00-9:30 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
Nolan Gould Interview [source: Backstage]
Backstage has an interview with Nolan Gould from Modern Family, here are some parts of the interview:

ACTOR2WATCH: How do you like being on “Modern Family”?
NOLAN GOULD: I really love the show. People are really nice on set. The food is good. Everybody is really funny, not just when they’re acting, but when they’re off-set too.
A2W: Who’s your favorite actor and why?
NG: I would say Jim Parsons from “The Big Bang Theory.” His demeanor and his little smirks, his little facial expressions just make me laugh cause it’s funny. Ty Burrell from “Modern Family” is also really good. He’s great at improving, and he acts like a little kid in the show. But the funny thing is he’s actually a little kid basically.
A2W: Have you started getting recognized? How about fan letters?
NG: No, no fan letters yet. When I go into audition rooms, some of the acting people notice me and say “Hey, you’re that kid from “Modern Family,” right?” And so that’s pretty cool. All my relatives back in Alabama know.

Modern Family Episode 6 “Run for Your Wife” Quotes

- Image via Wikipedia
Another great episode for Modern Family (well every episode till now was great…). Here are some quotes for you:
Mitchell: “Why is our daughter dressed like Donna Summer?”
Cameron: “She is not Donna Summer, clearly she is Diana Ross from the RCA years. How is Daddy not seeing that?”
Mitchell: “I am fun! Remember breakfast for dinner last week? My idea.”
Gloria: “Batman doesn’t get picked on and he wears a cape. A poncho is just a cape that goes all the way around.”
Jay: “Batman doesn’t get picked on because he’s a muscular genius. Manny can’t make it to the top bunk.”
What was your favorite quote?
‘Modern Family’ Portraits
EW has 7 portraits of the stars of Modern Family, here are some of them, you can find the rest in EW.

I was eight-and-a-half months pregnant with twins while we shot the pilot. If you watch carefully, you see I'm behind every laundry basket. I'm answering the door folding towels. It was just a function of hiding my belly, but then it sort of became part of the character. Claire is always doing something. She's never hanging out. She's always folding or cleaning or doing something.''

''I applied for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College in 1995. I almost made it. They had five clowns applying for two spots left. They send you either an acceptance letter or a rejection letter. The acceptance letter, of course, is filled with confetti, so when you open it up all the confetti comes out. I didn't get the letter with the confetti.''
