Modern Family Scoops
Modern Family scoops from TV Guide:
The cast spilled their guts to us during a visit to the Los Angeles set. Oddly, their teases all involved undressing. “Cameron challenges Jay to a racquetball match and their butts might touch in the locker room,” Eric Stonestreet reports. Meanwhile, Jesse Tyler Ferguson indicated that Mitchell “might end up in an article of clothing that is not mine” — and doesn’t belong to any other male cast member either. Julie Bowen keeps it simple: “Naked, hotel lobby and flying underwear — just chew on that for a while.” Not enough? How about this? Fizbo flashback!

“Modern Family” creator Steven Levitan talks about gay couple Mitchell and Cameron on hit comedy
As the gay marriage debate continues to rage in the United States, two gay dads played by Jesse Tyler Fergusonand Eric Stonestreet on ABC’s hit comedy Modern Family could be doing a lot to change hearts and minds.
Greg in Hollywood has an interview with “Modern Family” creator Steven Levitan that talks about this subject. Here are some of the interview highlights:
“I think once people watch the show, those are two characters who are very, very hard not to like and I think that has probably diffused any of the negative energy that people were feeling”.
“We haven’t had much pushback on it,” Levitan said. “There’s always a fringe element that before the show came out, you know, ‘let’s boycott ABC,” and it was probably like 20 guys in a cellar someplace.
Said Levitan: “We have an episode that will air in January in which Jay is with a bunch of his buddies and he runs into Cameron and he introduces him as a friend of my son and Mitchell takes great offense at that. And through dealing with that issue, I think they come to a better understanding. It’s a very funny episode that’s really about something.”
Ferguson is an openly gay actor who previously played a straight character on the CBS comedy The Class while Stonestreet is straight and among his many roles was a recurring part on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
‘Modern Family’ Helps 20th Spread Holiday Cheer
Rather than send out one of those generic company e-cards that have become all too common this year, the fine folks at 20th Century Fox Television decided to help recruit the stars of “MF” to help spread some holiday cheer. And the results are quite hilarious, especially if you’re a TV biz insider.
The video e-card starts out with the “MF” cast members offering up pretty basic holiday wishes. And then, just when you’re about to surf away, up pops Gary Newman and Dana Walden, the chairs of 20th.
Check the e-card here.

ABC get a B+ from The TV Addict:
The Good: ABC took a fairly substantial leap of faith with their brand-new Wednesday night comedy block, and as luck would have it, the leap paid off. What could have been an epic disaster of HANK-esque proportions single-handedly transformed ABC’s once troubled Wednesday night into a ratings force to be reckoned with thanks to the success of freshman newcomers THE MIDDLE, MODERN FAMILY and COUGAR TOWN.
Sofia Vergara heats up ABC’s ‘Modern Family’ and makes us laugh
The Times interviewed Vergara at Urth Caffe in Beverly Hills in October, where the Colombian actress proved why she might be on her way to becoming America’s No. 1 funny lady. The following are excerpts from that interview. You can read the rest here.
Fess up. Who’s your friend at ABC? They keep giving you opportunities.
My friend or my friend? (Laughs.) I think [ABC President of Entertainment] Steve McPherson. He always said, “I’m going to look for something for you.” He always believed in me. All of the three shows that I’ve done has been his idea.
How did you meet him?
I met him when he was at Touchstone. I did a pilot with Damon Wayans for ABC. And he was one of the executives. The pilot didn’t go through, but they tested the pilot and I scored pretty high. I don’t know what that means. Then ABC gave me a holding deal until they found something for me. And now it looks like they found it.
Did you have fun at work today?
It’s always funny. Today we were working on the Christmas episode. So today we sang a song.
Do you crack up around Ty Burrell? He’s so funny.
It’s so hard to be straight around him. But you learn because then the hours are too long. That scene we had where I throw the underwear at him, we had to do it so many times because I would throw it on his face and I would just laugh and laugh.
You named your son after Manolo [Steven Bauer] on “Scarface,” right?
I was so obsessed with Steven Bauer. He was so handsome. He was gorgeous. But now my son always says, “Yeah, yeah, you named me after a drug dealer junkie. That’s fantastic, Mom.” I tell him, “It was because he was handsome.” That’s my favorite movie. [She looks down at her plate.] It’s a weird time to be eating this salad. 4 p.m.?
