Gabourey Sidibe on Joining Modern Family: ‘I’d Love to Do It’
We know that Jesse Tyler Ferguson would like to see Gabourey Sidibe on Modern Family.
Movieline caught up with Sidibe:
Did she know that Ferguson was going all out to woo her for a guest stint?
“Yeah, I heard that rumor as well,” Sidibe said before she was overcome with giggles. “I actually really, really like that show. It’s the funniest show, it really is. So, I’d love to do it.”
The Precious star had only kind words for Ferguson, adding, “That guy is awesome.”
But is his quest a one-man enterprise? They asked Sidibe if Ferguson was the only rep from Modern Family she’d talked to so far. “Noooo…” she said, grinning. “I’ve talked to some other people [from the show].”
Is Gabourey Sidibe coming to ‘Modern Family’?
If Jesse Tyler Ferguson has his way, Gabourey Sidibe will be headed to the Pritchett/Tucker household. In a new interview with NYPost.com‘s PopWrap, the “Modern Family” star reveals that he’s actively approached the Oscar nominee about playing Lily’s nanny in an upcoming episode!
“The one person I actually have gone after — because she’d be so brilliant — is Gabourey Sidibe. I think she would be fantastic as a nanny we hire. She’s just so bubbly and sweet and a fan of the show. I think this would be a seamless fit for her,” Jesse tells PopWrap.
And that’s not all Jesse spilled — from Fred Williard’s return to an upcoming bird attack plotline — spoilers were abundant!

Modern Family Heads To Hawaii
Executive producer Steve Levitan confirms that the entire cast will fly to Maui next week to shoot an episode slated to air in May.
“We’re going to show them on a family vacation,” reveals Levitan, adding that the trip coincides with Jay’s birthday. “Jay thinks that he and Gloria are going by themselves for this romantic getaway, and she surprises him by inviting the entire family.”
The first part of the two-part episode will be set entirely at the airport as they set off on their big trip. “Initially, we were just going to do [the airport episode],” explains Levitan. “And then as we were shooting it we decided that [viewers] would be somewhat disappointed if we didn’t follow through on the [actual] trip. So now the entire family is going to Hawaii.”

Celebrities Stage Benefit for Student Trip to Washington, D.C.
Award-winning actors Ed O’Neill (Modern Family), Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy), and Cameron Daddo (24), will star opposite their wives in special benefit performances of A.R. Gurney’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, Love Letters at the Westside Waldorf School in Pacific Palisades on March 12 and 13. All proceeds will go towards the school’s 8th grade class, who hope to tour Washington, D.C. and meet their Congressional leaders in May (culminating a year-long study of American history). The parents and students have spent the last three years trying imaginative ways to raise funds for their trip.
“We’ve had bake sales, sold t-shirts, made special lunches,” says Jack Wolcott, a class member who lives in Topanga, “and the play is going to help a lot.” The idea for the production came from eighth-grade parent Cameron Daddo who reached out to some fellow thespians.
“Ed and Isaiah are both fantastic fathers, husbands and supporters of Westside Waldorf School,” says Daddo. “I was happy that neither one hesitated to accept the invitation to do Love Letters, with their wives, who are fabulous actresses in their own right.”

‘Modern Family’ in Australia
Modern Family was just included in the “Top TV to watch in 2010″ list of the Australian magazine Brisbane Times. Here’s what they say about Modern Family down-under:
Modern Family (Ten)
Concept: The foibles of an extended American family, including neurotic siblings (she has an excruciating husband and wild kids, he has a gay partner and adopted baby daughter), their dad, his new Colombian wife and stepson, are captured in a documentary.
Star factor: Married With Children’s Ed O’Neill is the name you’ll recognise but the show’s breakout stars are Jesse Tyler Ferguson (gay son Mitchell), Ty Burrell (“I’m the cool dad” brother-in-law Phil) and Rico Rodriguez (dad’s new stepson, Manny).
Verdict: A gentler twist on the discomfort of The Office and Arrested Development, dark enough to entice, not so dark it intimidates and gentle enough to hit its mark as a commercial comedy. An absolute winner.
Modern Family Scoop
This scoop comes to us from E! Online:
Fight, fight, fight! In an upcoming ep, Jay (Ed O’Neill) tries to toughen up Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) by teaching him a few wrestling moves, and Mitchell puts his newfound skills to use defending Claire’s (Julie Bowen) honor in an Apple Store. This could possibly turn out to be better than Claire and Mitchell’s ice-skating routine and/or Mitchell’s closing argument. We heart Mitchell!
