“Coal Digger” – The whole family is invited to Jay and Gloria’s for some barbeque and football. DVR Play Ground Emmys

DVR Play Ground gave 3 out of their 5 weekly “Emmy” to Modern Family:

MODERN FAMILY’s Ed O’Neill, for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Now that William Shatner is no longer eligible for his annual Emmy nod, voters are going to need another rich old white guy they can shower with praise. Enter Ed O’Neill, who in MODERN FAMILY’s fourth outing of the season continued to set the perfect tone for the craziness that goes down in the Dunphey-Pritchett abode. With bonus points for his faux outrage towards son Mitchell upon ‘discovering’ that ex-wife Dede was a surprise Sunday-night dinner guest.

MODERN FAMILY’s Shelley Long, for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. And speaking of ex-wife Dede. Shelley Long’s performance as Jay’s sexually-frustrated uber-critical ex-wife who has yet to move on from the mortifying ‘incident’ that had her creating quite the scene at Jay and Gloria’s wedding not only had us howling with laughter (”I knew they were perfect for each other when I saw his wallet and her boobs!”), but had us checking Amazon for CHEERS DVDs. Seriously, we had no idea Shelley Long was that funny, or that she was capable of such a bang-on Gloria impersonation!

MODERN FAMILY’s “Do Me,” for Outstanding Music and Lyrics. Come’on admit it, you too haven’t stopped singing Dylan’s opus to girlfriend Haley. Find the song here.

Eric Stonestreet Reveals Cameron’s Backstory on “Modern Family”

Televisionary Blog has an interview with Eric Stonestreet , where they talk more about Cam’s past.
Here are some interesting parts from the interview:
“It’s revealed [in the episode we're shooting] this week that Cameron has a clowning background and is a classically-trained auguste clown named Fizbo,” Stonestreet told me. “The episode is entitled ‘Fizbo’ and that’s where it comes full circle for me.”
“Mitchell, of course, is just not into it,” Stonestreet said of Cameron’s clown past. “When I ask Phil if there’s going to be a clown [at Luke’s birthday party], I just can’t for the life of me understand who would throw a party and not have a clown and Mitchell is just like, ‘Cam, let it go. Let it go.’”

Televisionary: Can you tease us then about what else is coming up on Modern Family for Cameron?

Stonestreet: You will also find out that I have a sports background, which is where again they are borrowing from our lives because I played football and was a track and field athlete. But I also liked being a clown on the weekend and doing kids’ parties. It’s just an interesting dynamic and one that they loved and thought was perfect for Cameron. So you definitely find out I have a sports background, I have a clowning background. You start to find out what my occupation may have been before Lily came long. It’s a visual occupation, something that takes a keen eye and an understanding of situations and moments that I really feel is the cornerstone of Cameron’s character.

I say to people that Cameron is a celebrator of life and a celebrator of the moment. He doesn’t let a moment pass. Where we want to just skate through life, my idea of Cameron is someone who celebrates every moment and is very excited and excitable about every moment.

The Dylan’s Song – Modern Family episode 4

For all of you who loved the song here are the lyrics:

“In the moonlight” (Do me)

The stars are falling from the sky

And you’re the reason why

The moon is shining on your face

And I finally think it found its place

Chorus:

Cuz maybe baby

I just wanna do you, do you

Do you wanna do me, do me?

Underneath the moonlight, moonlight

tonigh…

And now we’re hiding in my car

I let you see my scars

Escape the dark for just one night

Your heart makes me explode with light

– Chorus –

Baby maybe

Maybe I will steal you, steal you

Just so I can feel you, feel you

Maybe that will heal you, heal you

On the inside

Underneath the willow tree

wearing nothing else but me…
