‘Modern Family’ – Cameron (Eric Stonestreet)
One of the best surprises of “Modern Family” is Eric Stonestreet (see IMDb profile), who plays Cameron. The guy is so funny…
Eric just did an interview for Variety in which he said about himself: “I always say I’m the straight version of Cameron,” Stonestreet says. “I’m a little bit flamboyant myself and have a flair for the dramatic. Who says those are bad things? I think they have their place. Cameron doesn’t let moments pass. He is a celebrator of life and people.”
KansasCity ran an article about Eric, who is from Kansas. In the interview Eric said about the audition: “It was the audition every actor wanted, and I know they saw a tremendous number of people,” – we are so glad he got the part.
Here is a clip for you:
Eric is unique and a very experienced talent. With roots back through Second City and the Improv Olympic before he headed West. A very nice guy, from a very nice family, who worked really hard at doing something he loves, then…Bingo!!! The break he was destined for. He has done about everything role-wise in paving his way up to this role as Cameron, and has done them all very well indeed. He never intended to be a “leading” actor, just a really good character actor.
Sometimes, good things happen to good people.
We are all very proud of and happy for Eric and his entire family.
This is a great show, with excellent people all around, and even with a huge push from the ABC network, it is picking up more speed as we head into week 3.
There are dozens of great lines and many great scenes in every episode, and most of it is relate-able to the viewers.
Seems to me like a winning combo.
Dean.
