Meanwhile, when Cameron hears Dylan is down a drummer in his band, he enthusiastically offers to fill in, and Jay and Gloria have to pay the consequences of accidentally taking Manny to see a traumatizing horror movie, on “Modern Family,” WEDNESDAY, APRIL 28 (9:00-9:30 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

ABC’s “Modern Family” is the No. 1 Scripted TV Show in its Slot for the 8th Time In 9 Telecasts with Adults 18-49, Beating a Replay of “Criminal Minds” by 29%
Marking its Top Repeat Performance in the Half-Hour in Nearly 5 Months, “Modern Family” Marks its Best-Ever Replay When Airing Opposite “Idol”.
“Modern Family” (9:00-9:30 p.m.)
Jumping 38% from its lead-in against the third half-hour of “Idol,” ABC’s repeat “Modern Family” finished as top-rated scripted show at 9:00 p.m. among Adults 18-49 (2.2/6), beating CBS’ replay “Criminal Minds” by 29% (1.7/5) and NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU” replay by 83% (1.2/3). “Modern Family” has registered as the No. 1 scripted show in its time period on 8 of its last 9 telecasts (including both repeats and originals).
Among Adults 18-49, “Modern Family” posted its highest-rated repeat performance in the slot since the beginning of December (since 12/2/09), its 2nd-highest-ever replay in the half hour. In fact it was the ABC freshman comedy’s best-ever repeat number when airing head-to-head against “Idol”.

Zap2It has an interview with Jesse Tyler Ferguson who reveals that he has a very high-profile celebrity crush! “Evan Lysacek, yes. I’m not hiding it. I hear he lives in L.A. too, so it’s just a matter of time before we meet. Although I don’t know if he’s gay,” he says. “He’s probably too young for me. I need to get out of the 20-year-old age bracket. Like, I have crushes on all of the Jonas Brothers. I assume that’s OK?”

This week we have some celeberties that love Modern Family:
Kirstie Alley (from the Washington Examiner):
Alley said she would adore guest roles on “Glee” and “Modern Family” and knows exactly what they should be. On Fox’s show about a high school glee club, Alley could see herself as an acting coach in search of singing talent for a musical. On ABC’s “Modern Family,” she’s itching for a more maternal part.
“I want to play the gay guy’s mom,” she said, referring to the heavyset character of Cameron, partner to Mitchell (actors Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson). “And they’ve got to do it quick, while I’m still plump.”
Alyssa Milano (From PB Pulse):

“I love Modern Family, House, Dexter and I love The United States of Tara.”

ABC’S MODERN FAMILY IS WEDNESDAY’S #1 SCRIPTED TV SHOW
Building Sharply Opposite “Idol,” ABC’s “Modern Family” is Wednesday’s No. 1 Scripted TV Show for its 8th Straight Original Telecast in Adults 1849
“Modern Family” (9:00-9:30 p.m.)
Opposite Fox’s “American Idol” at 9:00 p.m., ABC’s “Modern Family” built on its lead-in by 64% to finish as the No. 1 scripted show in its time slot among Adults 18-49, beating CBS’ “Criminal Minds” by 13% (3.6/10 vs. 3.2/9). For its 2nd straight original telecast, ABC freshman finished in a virtual tie with “American Idol” as the No. 1 program in the half-hour with Men 18-34 (2.7/10 vs. 2.9/10).

One last question — your hair is amazing on the show, we’re all jealous. How do you get it to look like that?
I call that “Disney hair.” They just curl it and then you put your fingers through it … It looks like everyone on Disney.

His Home Life Is Fodder for ‘Modern Family’

Jewish Journal has an interview with Steven Levitan, co-creator and executive producer of ABC’s “Modern Family”. Here are some of the highlights:
In an interview, Levitan credited the success of “Modern Family” to its blending of diverse points of view. Levitan says he has “no filter” for his emotions; Lloyd, in his opinion, is reserved. Levitan believes that his own cultural sensibilities at times trickle down to the writing, while Lloyd sees no Jewish or religious sensibilities on the show.
“We certainly don’t delve into religion — second, after politics, on the list of show-killing topics – nor do we have any intention of doing so,” Lloyd wrote in an e-mail.
“One of our constant issues is, what level of fighting can these couples do?” Levitan added. He cited the remote-control argument between Claire and Phil: “They barely got into it, from my point of view, and Chris was like, ‘I think they’re too angry.’… But oftentimes, from our differences, the best [work] comes.”
Levitan, 48, acknowledges his strong cultural Jewish connection but says he is not religious. He grew up attending a Reform synagogue in suburban Chicago, where he aspired to become a writer from an early age. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, he took a job as a reporter at Madison’s ABC affiliate because “I wanted to be on TV,” he said sheepishly.
So, why aren’t any of the “Modern Family” members Jewish? Casting, Levitan said. “I don’t subscribe to the thinking that people won’t fall in love with a Jewish family,” he explained. “But when you have actors like ours, they don’t look Jewish or seem Jewish. So even if some of the humor seems Jewish, we’re not avoiding the issue to play to a mass market.”
