Julie's character plays the straightman/woman…you got to have stability in relation to the koas in her family that we all enjoy and find humorous or the jokes just won't seem as funny…she is Phil's Mitchel…However her character should be allowed to take a break from being Mom “The Gate Keeper”…Let a few slip by…I think Clair is funny but could be halarious…She's a hott Mama!

There is not a character or a scene I would quibble with any
this marvelous comedy. All the characters are perfection.
Of course, Cam, is a scene steeler - but he's so loveable
I applaud his scene stealing ways. I think everyone is just
about close to perfection AND how glad am I that tomorrow
is Weds!

I don't agree with the assessment of Claire. She is funny and she is sweet and she has an edge to her. I like her. The scene where she and her brother re-stage a skating routine from their childhood is priceless. The Christmas episode where she tries to figure out a way around Phil's over reaction without backing down in front of the kids. Her face, when Phil tries to make up to the kids by taking the whole family to Italy is wonderful. Lot's of women can relate to Claire and Julie Bowen does a great job with the role.
