I thought it was the funniest joke of the episode. Clearly the butt of the joke is Gloria who has a double standard, not Peruvians. Anyone who’s offended by this actually doesn’t get the joke. I’m Italian, and had she said “Like we’re Italians!” I would have found the joke equally funny and not been offended in the least.

Siempre habrá personas que encuentren algo ofensivo. Lo que para ti es, para otro no puede ser, y viceversa.

Si en lugar de peruanos hubiera dicho mexicanos (y yo soy uno de ellos), me hubiera reído, porque el chiste no es hacia el país en sí, si no la ironía de que defienda a su país por cosas que sí son, e insulte a otro país de paso. El chiste es su “shortsightedness”, y lo tonto que es hacer lo mismo a Perú, que Jay le hizo a Colombia.

Because of this “joke”, many people discover on the internet which country is number 1 in murders per capita. Vergara did such bad publicity to her own country.

i find this joke offensive,they are insulting Peruvians even if they can say that is in an ironic way. if they want to make fun of something, make fun of the characters. i think every conutnry in latin america deserves respect. Stop thinking that countries in Latin America are poor and the people are inferior.

Gloria can be taken as an ongoing joke not just to Colombia, but to every country in Latin America. But, I live in one, and I don’t find the jokes offensive.

That particular joke wasn’t on the Peruvians. It was on Gloria. She was complaining about Jay “making fun” of Colombians, which leads to Gloria attributing that to Peruvians, without realizing the irony.
